For the rapidly developing markets around the Mediterranean Sea we are looking for a Commercial Area Manager Middle East/North Africa (Entrepreneurial, internationally oriented, analytical and persuasive).
Bakker Brothers is an internationally active and successful company with offices and facilities in Europe, as well as the Middle East and Sub-Sahara Africa. The company supplies seeds and plant material for both the professional grower, as well as the consumer market. As well as beans, they supply tomatoes, peppers, aubergine and carrots. Their breeding activities are carried out worldwide and research and trials are performed on every continent. In some of the more difficult to reach markets in the Middle East and Sub-Sahara Africa they have offices and trial stations in order to better understand and serve the local market. Europe, the Middle East and Sub-Sahara Africa are the most important markets to supply. Experienced and skilled research and development teams ensure that all the specific requirements of these markets can also be fulfilled. In the future the company would like to remain at the forefront of the international seed market. In order to achieve this they need to be a leading supplier of a combination of sustainability and economic benefit for their customers.
The Commercial Area Manager will work out of the North Holland Head Office and will be responsible for the further commercial development and expansion of the markets in North Africa and the Middle East. He or she will be travelling regularly to talk to existing and potentially new customers. This will require the person to have a strong personality who knows how to act in ever changing circumstances. He or she is persuasive, takes initiative but also has a good feeling and respect for the many different local and regional market situations and the business culture and traditions. The man or woman we are looking for needs to have a sense of the different cultures and the way they do business This can be really different to how business is carried out in the Netherlands or Western Europe. Knowledge of culture and respect for tradition is very important. He or she will speak English, French and Arabic and ideally also Dutch and they will have a university education in commerce or business for example. Evidence of commercial experience in an internationally active company is very important and knowledge of the seed market (or the ability to learn quickly) will be an advantage. The candidate we are looking for will play a key role at Bakker Brothers, together with the Technical Area Manager, particularly when it comes to signaling and analyzing new trends on time and finding business opportunities in their area. They will be responsible for setting tariffs for the seeds, including keeping an eye on the annual budgets and the fulfilment of agreed goals.
